28th Annual First Friday is the continuation of a local classic celebrated by Anne's Visual Art Studio Gallery. This year, it will happen on February 7 from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. – and it will be free! Open to the public, it champions the arts by providing gallery space that never turns local artists away. Its goal is to sell all the gallery's pieces each month so it can always start fresh with brand-new exhibitions.
- Goodyear's Serenade for Strings – 600 East Grace Street, Richmond, VA 23219
Goodyear's Serenade for Strings is happening on January 31 at 7:30 p.m. sharp and is sure to be one of the most gripping performances of the season. The evening will close with 15-year-old Felix Mendelssohn performing the First Symphony. Conductor Valentina Peleggi will also play an indispensable role in this evening at the Perkinson Center.
- The Practice of Oral Histories – 248 North Arthur Ashe Boulevard, Richmond, VA 23220

Participants will hear from practicing historians about the techniques of oral history and how to use them. Plus, you can also visit current exhibits where oral history is used to explore the Vietnam War, the Civil War and much more.
